Get to Know the Studio
-
Fair question. A lot of wellness is marketing. This isn't. Alessandra is a licensed acupuncturist, and everything in the studio is something she uses herself. If it didn't work on her first, it's not on the menu.
-
Then you’re who we built this for. One session gives you the workout and the recovery together, so you're not adding a second appointment to your week — you're replacing two with one.
-
That's usually because most wellness asks you to add something to an already full life. This is built to replace something, not stack on top of it. The workout and the recovery happen at the same time, so it's not one more thing on the list.
-
It's not really priced like a workout — it's priced like a workout and a recovery session combined, because that's what you're getting in one hour instead of two separate appointments. Packages bring the per-session cost down further the more you come. View our full pricing here, or email us directly at alessandra@aokaywellness.com with any questions. We’re here to help.
Fitness
-
Shorts — and the shorter, the better. The BodyShape treadmill and bicycle use infrared and collagen red light therapy, which work best with direct skin exposure so the therapies can reach the deeper layers of tissue. Running, walking, or training sneakers are recommended. For the SensoPro, wear grippy socks to keep your footing secure and prevent injury. A Okay Wellness sells shorts and grip socks, in case you forget. Come ready to be surprised.
-
As often as you like. As long as you're getting other exercise during the week, 1–2 BodyShape sessions is a good baseline. For maximum benefit, double up with 60-minute sessions. If you’re working toward a specific goal, 3–5 sessions a week for 3–5 weeks is our recommendation. As is the case with most equipment in our studio, for the SensoPro, a little goes a long way. Two 15-minute sessions a week is great support for sport conditioning, and one 20-minute session a week supports your brain health and maintenance.
Acupuncture
-
Acupuncture supports the body's own path back to balance, which means it can help with almost any imbalance, discomfort, or disease. Recent sessions have supported clients with:
Chronic and acute pain, including neuralgia
Insomnia, stress, and fatigue
Athletic conditioning, performance, and marathon training
Fertility, hormonal imbalances, PMS, and perimenopause
Anxiety, depression, and grief
TMJ, tinnitus, and migraines
Digestive complaints like IBS, indigestion, and acid reflux
Respiratory issues and immune support
Pre- and post-surgery support
Weight loss and habit change support
-
Not usually, and not the way you think. A Okay Wellness uses tiny, flexible filiform needles that are nothing like the needle used for a blood draw. Most sessions use a gentle Japanese-style technique, and clients often don't feel the needles at all. Occasionally, you may feel a brief, faint pinch. Frequently, there is a “De Qi” sensation - a spreading distending pressure or pulling sensation which signals contact with the healing mechanism of the acupuncture point. You're always in control of the experience, and any treatment can be adjusted in the moment if something feels like too much, or not enough.
-
If your body needs the deep, steady heat of Moxa or the targeted release of e-stim, Alessandra folds it right into your acupuncture session with no separate booking or appointment required. We tailor each session to whatever your body needs that day. Cupping is the only modality also offered on its own.
-
It's normal to see a temporary purple mark where the cups were placed. That's the release you're feeling, not a bruise from injury. It usually fades within one to two weeks. Keep the area covered and dry for eight to twelve hours after your session so your skin has time to settle. We’ll guide you through the entire process in our studio.
-
It depends on what you're treating and how long it's been going on. Many feel relief after just the initial treatment, which leads them to keep coming back and deepen the impact. We recommend starting with at least three sessions to feel the benefit. Ongoing nervous system, digestive, hormonal, or immune support tends to respond well to weekly or biweekly visits. Non-chronic pain often eases within one to two sessions a week for two to three weeks. Chronic pain typically responds best to weekly sessions for about six weeks, followed by monthly tune-ups. Some clients come in monthly, or as needed, for a reset. Please fill out the intake form before your first visit so we can set the right expectations together.

Whatever you're already wearing. We provide gowns for privacy and comfort. For small-group sessions, comfortable clothing that gives access to your hands, wrists, elbows, feet, ankles, and knees is all you need.
